CIS Introduces Closed Labs
To improve student learning, the Department of Computer and Information Science has modified its approach to teaching its introductory sequence to use closed laboratories. Beginning with the Fall 2010 semester, Computer Science 111, 112, and 211 will be taught on a 2+2 schedule, with 2 one-hour lecture sessions and 1 two-hour closed, structured laboratory session each week. Each lab section will be limited to 24 students.
The faculty is excited that this new approach will strengthen the students understanding of the concepts and their practical skills in problem solving and programming.
