Kyoshin Joel Choo receives 2015 UPE Scholarship Award
Congratulations to Kyoshin Joel Choo, P.H.d. candidate and CS Instructor!
Kyoshin was recently selected by the UPE Executive Council to receive a 2015 UPE Scholarship Award. His selection was based on his long-term plans for the profession and his contributions to the Gamma chapter of UPE and service to the CS department.
Kyoshin Joel Choo is a Ph.D student in the Department of Computer and Information Science, who is currently working with Dr. Jang as a graduate research assistant. Kyoshin received his BA degree in Engineering in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Handong Global University in South Korea in 2000, and his Master of Science in Engineering in Electrical Engineering-Systems from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2001. Before his doctoral study, he worked for Samsung Electronics where he developed and mass-produced demodulator chips for world broadcasting standards.
His research interests include GPU hardware architecture, CPU-GPU heterogeneous computing and system architecture, optimization of GPGPU applications, and modeling and analyzing the performance of GPU and heterogeneous systems.
