Grad Students Present Papers
Computer science graduate students Sheng Liu, Xiaofei Nan, and Yun Tian will present papers or posters at significant conferences during October.
MS student Sheng Liu will present a paper, titled "Large Margin Classifiers and Random Forests for Integrated Biological Prediction on Mixed Type Data," at the 7th Annual Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Symposium (BIOT 2010) held in Lafayette, Louisiana, 14-15 October. Sheng Liu is a member of the data provenance research group led by Dr. Dawn Wilkins and Dr. Yixin Chen.
At the same conference, PhD student "Sophie" Xiaofei Nan, another member of the data provenance group, will present a poster on "An Embedded Feature Selection Approach to Multiclass Gene Selection."
PhD student "Tony" Yun Tian will present a paper, titled "The Globus Toolkit R-Tree for Partial Spatial Replica Selection," at the 11th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Grid Computing (Grid 2010) held in Brussells, Belgium, 25-29 October. Yun Tian is currently working with Dr. Philip Rhodes as a graduate research assistant.
Congratulations to Sheng Liu, Yun Tian, Xiaofei Nan, and their co-authors!
