Game Design & Programming with Microsoft XNA

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 3pm

Weir Hall, Room 235

Vincent Fermo, Caleb Fox, Joseph Smith, Sam Testa, and William Thompson

Abstract:

This Wednesday at 3:00, come help us conduct an experiment -- can a room full of people drinking free Mountain Dew and eating free Cheetos still pay attention to a presentation on indie game development for the Xbox 360? If you made it through that beast of a sentence you've probably got a good enough attention span to help us out. Grad students Vincent Fermo and Joseph Smith, along with development team writer William Thompson, will give a brief walkthrough of the development process for the game project they're currently working on.

Following that will be a short talk about the XNA programming done for the game so far, as well as a demo of the in-house development tool the team has created for the project. The presentation will wind down with a quick run through about the team's members and their jobs. After the obligatory Q&A session, they'll demo a few small Xbox 360 games and then take a headcount to see how many are still awake.

If you think you can take it -- or you just want some free junk food -- come down to Weir 235 on Wednesday at 3:00. Keep in mind though -- like everything else in video games, snacks are a limited resource, so come early.
