Wednesday, August 31st, 3:00pm
Weir Hall, Room 235
Presenter: Graham Green
Instructional Technology Manager, School of Business
Administration, University of Mississippi
Eclipse is an open source IDE written in Java. There are versions that
run on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It has all the standard IDE features:
code completion, text highlighting, program debugging, but its
strength lies in the ever expanding set of plugins available. These
plugins allow for precise customization which lets the developer
create a fully integrated development environment for almost any
language.
We will begin with post installation configuration of Eclipse. Next we
will cover the creation of a project and step through the writing,
running, and debugging of a simple Java application. Finally we will
spend a little time looking at various plugins available for more
advanced programming and system integration.
